Our story

Fun facts about Sylvias Summer:

• 2024 We won the “Most Trusted Wedding Florist - North Island” in Lux Global wedding awards.

• 2026 We won “Local Wedding Florist Of The Year - North Island” in Lux Global wedding awards.

• The flower field is the result of a wife who was very persistent till the moment when hubby Josh finally gave in to the idea “ok lets do it! You look so happy when your around flowers”

• Wife - Sacha, named the business after her nana who was a florist and also worked in nurseries. Sacha spent so much of her childhood picking flowers and playing with all the pretty papers and ribbons making bouquets.

• Hubby - Josh’s fathers family is from Holland and grew up on a tulip farm. Josh’s dad remembers his family selling fresh flowers out of their kombi van that was covered in floral paintings.

• Josh and Sach meet at school and for many years Josh would send beautiful flowers to Sacha, he now jokes that he eventually just settled on a flower farm to save him buying more flowers.

• Favs: Sach + Ranunculous, but also the amethyst magnolia flower, its instant happiness when I see these trees in spring. Josh + Zinnias they are colourful and perfect and actually make it look like a flower farm as they are cut when open unlike many of our blooms. Oldest son + snapdragons, the easiest flower to cut when mum makes me help. Middle son + anything that’s covered in bumblebees. Youngest son + Strawflowers You will always find a little stash on his windowsill..

Sylvias Summer originally started as a flower field to supply flowers direct to local florists, offering fresh and perfect blooms that are locally grown. Having previously worked in Weddings as an Events Manager I didn’t expect our flower field to take the turn that it has, but I absolutely love that it has.

When offering custom made bouquets we had many brides love our work and request we start weddings but it wasn’t until a lovely lady named Kendall arrived in my direct messages that I truely considered it. The passion Kendall had for finding a florist who could bring her flower dreams to life, flowers that didn’t just look stunning but reflected her fun personality. I couldn’t help but say yes! I new the minute I started planing the florals for this wedding that this was the future direction for Sylvias Summer. With every coupe that comes our way it is exciting to see the vision they have for their day. I feel so grateful many years on to be working with incredible couples, photographers, venues and marquee companies. We have been absolutely spoilt with locations to work and travel throughout the central North Island to bring couples their dream wedding florals.

2024 brought yet another chapter for Sylvias Summer when an abundance of our brides questioned how they could keep their bouquet for years to come, with many conversations and courses Seed to Forever was born. We offer bouquet preservation to our own couples along with preserving bouquets Nationwide.
